Beyond Byron Bay: Our Must-Visit 5 Stop Itinerary

Beyond Byron Bay: Our Must-Visit 5 Stop Itinerary

If you’re looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay for a day or two, we’ve got the perfect itinerary that takes you on a whistle-stop-tour of the charming Tweed towns, Pottsville and Burringbar, as well as a few other must-sees along the way.

 Stop 1: Crabbes Creek

First on the list is the small, rural village of Crabbes Creek. You have to stop off at the Crabbes Creek General Store; it’s one of the best small village shops in New South Wales. Stretch your legs, grab a snack for the road and potter about this local treasure before you make your way onto stop number 2.

Stop 2: Wooyung Beach

The trip from Crabbes Creek to Wooyung Beach is a beautiful one. As you meander past picturesque cane fields, you’ll soon be greeted by one of Australian’s top 10 beaches; a stunning 10km stretch of unspoilt beach that’s also dog friendly. If you’re travelling by caravan, there’s a caravan park just opposite too.

Stop 3: Pottsville

After a lazy morning spent wandering Wooyung and playing fetch with your 4-legged friend, it’s time to hop back in the car and arrive at stop number 3, just in time for lunch. Pipit, a French fusion restaurant by Ben Devlin, has put Pottsville on the map in recent years, serving up coastal fine-dining with a family-friendly feel. You simply have to try this place!

Stop 4: Burringbar

After lunch, it’s time for short drive inland to the tiny hamlet of Burringbar. While away the afternoon exploring its characterful collection of vintage shops and cafes, including Elwood Café, Heath’s Old Wares, Little Peach, a mid-century post office, family-owned butchery and fourth-generation artisan dairy, Tweed Valley Whey (cheese heaven!)

We currently have a fantastic property for sale in Burringbar. Check it out here.

Stop 5: Mooball

Last but not least, how about walking that cheese off with a beautiful bushwalk? Just a couple of minutes down the road lies Mooball National Park; one of the largest lowland moist rainforests and home to some wonderful walking trails and animal species. It’s the perfect way to end your day trip ‘beyond Byron Bay’!
