Family and Fur-Baby Friendly Things to do in Byron Bay

Family and Fur-Baby Friendly Things to do in Byron Bay

Twilight Markets on Saturday nights

The Byron Twilight Market takes place every Saturday night, 4pm – 9pm, at the Railway Park. It’s the perfect place to while away an evening with your little ones and dogs in tow, while browsing a beautiful array of boutique stalls.

With a strong focus on authenticity, originality and sustainability, you can support the local artisans selling jewellery, leather goods, clothing, accessories and more. You can also grab a bite to eat at the many delicious food stands.

You’ll love the vibrant, family friendly atmosphere, and they even have some fantastic local musicians playing too, such as Nomad Flamenco, DidoEra and Chris Mallory to name a few.

Alfresco dining with the whole family

Embrace the outdoors and dine alfresco! This is such a great thing to do with all the family and the dogs too. There are plenty of beaches that are ideal for a family cook out. For example, Broken Head, Clarkes Beach and The Pass all have BBQ facilities as well as picnic benches and toilets.

What better way to spend an afternoon than a beach picnic…the kids playing in the waves, the smell of sausages on the barbie and your fur babies to complete the family atmosphere.

Or if a breakfast BBQ is more your style, Apex Park is a good option with BBQs, picnic benches, and a play area adjacent to Main Beach. Afterwards, take a jog along the beachfront pathway with your furry friend.

Dog-friendly restaurant dining

If you fancy a day trip to nearby Bangalow, or happen to be passing through on your way into Byron, you have to stop off for a bite to eat at The Italian Diner.

Your dog will love you for it…with a menu just for them! The brilliant “menu di cane” includes doggie-delights such as a lamb shank bone, pig ear and kangaroo tail.

They also have a delicious human menu too, offering up authentic Italian flavours, daily fresh made pasta and local produce from the farmers, growers, fishers and butchers nearby.

Snorkelling and dog-friendly beaches

There are several snorkelling spots in Byron Bay to enjoy for the day with the kids and fur-babies. If the conditions are flat, then The Wreck is a good option or Cosy Corner at the far end of Tallow Beach is also great for snorkelling.

We would say that kids should be strong swimmers for all snorkelling around the Bay.

Here is a list of off-lead dog-friendly beaches to throw a ball and go for a stroll in the sun:

Tallow Beach

Main Beach to Belongil Beach

Brunswick Heads

New Brighton Beach

South Golden Beach
